AAAA Imperial Fire Agate from Mexico 13x11mm 5.01 Carats in Heavy 14K Yellow gold ring 14 grams 1222
Gemstone: Imperial Mexican Fire Agate
Treatments: Untreated
Specifications: 12.99x11.09 mm.
Weight: 5.01 Carats
Colors: As shown. Fire agates are notorious for being very difficult to photograph. I have taken these images under natural light and with incandescent light. The most accurate capture of the true colors will be shown where I have placed the fire agate on my fingers. These are all very high quality stones showing browns, reds, yellows, oranges, and greens. Some of my stones even show off the really rare blue and blue violet purple tones.
Clarity: Translucent to Opaque
Cut: Oval Cabochon. All stones will be fully set to be flush with the bezel as shown in the last image.
Origin: Calvillo mountain area, in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Fire agate is typically plain-cut into fancy freeform shapes and slabs. Stones must be perfectly cut in order to maximize iridescence. The cutting of fire agate requires the careful grinding and polishing away of surface layers, essentially reversing nature's long process of formation. Cutting away too much can kill the 'fire' completely, whilst removing too little results in a very dull and unattractive stone.
I have taken the time to focus on cutting my stones to appealing traditional calibrated shapes and not to leave them in freeforms. This has resulted in some stones becoming a little more expensive due to the waste of cutting away material that is full of color. Some stones might even have an open area with less color. This is deliberate and was left so that the overall shape of the stone stays the same. If you do not like those open areas I can cut out those sections leaving the stone with a freeform shape. There is no charge for this service, but once I make the cuts to the stone the stone is yours and no longer qualifies for my money back guarantee. All my fire agate rings are fully returnable for full refund.
Cutting fire agate is painstaking work and since very few pieces can be cut into traditional shapes and calibrated sizes, it is very rarely found in any mainstream jewelry so the pieces that I am offering are one of a kind and once they are gone that is it.
Fire agates are notoriously difficult to photograph and quite honestly the photos don’t do the stones justice. I guarantee you will love this stone, or send it back for a full refund of your purchase price. These are some of the best quality fire agates that I have ever cut and come from a collection that I started over 15 years ago..
Metal: 14K Yellow gold. (14K white and 14K rose also available for no additional charge).
Also available in 18K and 22K gold, contact us for prices.
Weight of ring is shown in the title line. This is an approximation and the final weight will vary with ring size ordered.
Ring size: 10, with all sizes available from 5 thru 15. Small additional charge for any size over a size 12. Please contact us for prices.
Finish: Shown with a high polish. Satin or hammered finish available at no additional charge.
PLEASE NOTE:
I make all my rings to order. The center stone shown in all the images is shown loose, and will be professionally bezel set before being shipped to you. An example of the type of finished bezel work is shown in the last image.
THE RING USED IN ALL THE IMAGES IS A STERLING SILVER 14K GOLD PLATED PROTOTYPE, and has been provided so that you can get a good idea of how the ring will look when finished. I do have many different styles of mens and womens rings so if you like the stone, but not the ring please contact us we would love to help select another ring mounting.
The rings will be made to fit around each center stone. All bezels will be nice and thick as shown in the last image. Once the stone is fully set I will again give the stone a final high polish using a 50,000 then a 100,000 grit diamond polish that will eliminate all the very fine scratches that might appear in the images. These fine scratches are not visible to the naked eye, but are brought out by the high magnification of the camera.
I personally cut each and every stone and will double check each stone before setting it. I will make touch up the stone to ensure that I try to get as perfect a shape as possible. My aim is for a nice oval shape. Close to being a calibrated size as possible. If you observe some minor scratches rest assured these will be eliminated before I ship out the ring.
All gold weighs are approximated and will vary depending on the ring size ordered and as I set the stone I remove some gold to make sure the stone is set deep enough to secure the stone for ever and that the edge of the bezel comes up to the edge of the stone..
By leaving the stone loose in the images you should be able to get a good idea on what the ring will look like. All the rings are available in 14K white, 14K rose, 14K yellow gold. We also over 18K and higher. Please contact us for prices.
